Hi Folks, should any of you be attending 'Sparks' doing a run of their 21 albums at Londons' Islington Academy then we've managed to get a support slot for their 1982 album 'Angst in my pants' on May 30th.
I reckon most of these shows will sell out eventually but have a root around for tickets and you may get lucky, they're only £18
Really looking forward to this one as I've been a fan for some time, wish I could afford to go to them all.
Hit us up if you're going to any anyway and let's talk Sparks!

The Standards are playing the wonderful Bloomsbury bowling lanes next Thursday May 8th with London favourites 'Pull Tiger Tail' and 'Dempsey & the DC 9's who are on Output recordings {the rapture etc}
Spinning the decks are DJ's the Truckin' Laura's playing the finest in hoe down country and uptown soul.
We're headlining at around 10pm so would relish your support, the venue is open till 1am.
Come bowl, eat, drink and listen, not neccessarily in that order. It’ll be a bit like happy days except there isn’t a 40 year old paedophile hanging around all the time going ’eeyyyy’
Message us with names for the £2.50 guestlist should you wish to attend, £5 otherwise so you'd be mad not to.

Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, beneath the Tavistock Hotel, Bedford Way, London, WC1H 9EU. Russell Sq & Euston tubes.
Have good bank holiday weekends whatever the weather and hope to see you next week.
Afternoon all, should any of you be attending the Camden Crawl this weekend then The Standards are playing not one but two shows for ya and one of 'em's free so read on if that's you...
On Friday 18th April we're at 'The Worlds End' pub, opposite Camden tube & above the underworld.
You need a ticket for this and unfortunately it's sold out as far as I know but give it a go as you never know!
We're on at 4pm just after our pals 'The Bad Robots' and just before 'Pull Tiger Tail' who are not our pals but we'll see how the day goes eh! Loads of other amazing acts exclusively to this venue and a few surprises I'm sure, check your program when you collect your tickets.
Secondly we're at 'Tommy Flynns' pub 55 Camden High St at around 7pm, on Friday also, and best of all IT'S FREE!!! to all comers regardless of tickets. We played there last year and it was amazing, loads of great acts, some special guests and you're guaranteed a decent view in a non sweaty environment. That said it does get pretty rammed throughout the proceedings so grab a spot as soon as you can.
We hope to see ya at one or both crawl shows anyway so come say hello.

Well you are a lucky lot, hear two new songs by us exclusively to Vox, They are 'Brenda Pretender' {attached} and 'Press The Hash Key'. We think Brenda's a hit and if you think otherwise you're wrong! Maybe hash key as the b-side should it be a single?
We got enough up here for an album now and a great video for 'Needless to say' yet little comments/suggestions/thoughts on the tracks and vid so get typing and don't be afraid to stick it to us, we can handle it. Is there anybody out there?
Come hear them live tomorrow night {Jan 9th} at The Social, Little Portland St W1 for the great sons of stereo night, it's free in and we're on at 9.30pm. Also on the bill are Trailing Laces, Kings of Spain and The Raid.
Don't be a stranger.
p.s. anyone wanna buy a brand new unused p.a system so we can fund a release?
Hello, Firstly may we wish you a very happy new year, hope the festive season didn't render you too incapable for what's to come in 08, kicking off with...
The Standards playing the Chinawhite unplanned night at, erm, Chinawhite on Monday 7th Jan at 9.00pm. Best of all, as it's last minute, it’s free if you mail us names to thestandards@hotmail.co.uk and the list is unlimited so spread the word , you never know what tv lack of personality or footy star you might see! if you care about that sort of thing that is. 6 Air St, off Regent St W1.
Secondly we're at the brilliant 'Sons of stereo' night at the Social, 5 Little Portland St W1 on Wed 9th Jan which is free also. We're on at 9.20pm and on the bill with us are 'The Raid' and 'King of Spain'
So there you go, couple'a dates for your diary if you're still in party mode and they're both FREE!!!

Firstly The Standards would like to wish you you a very merry Christmas with this little performance here http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1482922794
Unfortunately we couldn't get a studio booked in time to record our new Christmas track as a give away so hopefully this will suffice! Next year we promise!
Secondly, anyone wishing to hear said track among other new ones then come to the Chalk Farm Jamboree on New Years Eve at the brand new Monarch in Chalk Farm {ex wetherspoons misty moon} We'll be opening the proceedings at around 8.30pm and we think you'll agree that the monarch is offering the best NYE night by far!. Full info is below, it's a bit long but that's because there's so much fun to fill you in on. If you fancy it let us know names as soon as you can as we have a £5 guestlist for the new monarch but we can only have 10 fans. We're gonna work on a larger list if we can {or smuggle some of you in}
Otherwise your best bet is to get a £15 ticket {£18 on ticketweb} from any of the venues involved which gains you entry to all of 'em all night long. I guess 15 quid for one venue is a bit of a steal as it's new years eve and most places charge £20 and upwards! {fancy dress not essential btw}
We hope you can come join the fun, now check out the line ups' below and have a great time this Chrimbo!
Love, Neil, Mark & Scott XxX

CHALK FARM NEW YEAR’S EVE JAMBOREE SPECIAL
Promises 1940s fancy dress, bands, djs and some bloody awful poetry.
Monday 31st December 2007
Chalk Farm’s finest live venues once again unite for a New Years Eve Jamboree Special. 4 historic Camden public houses arm in arm present a 1 ticket, 1940's fancy dress-themed party on a grandiose scale - it sounds like a mouthful but put simply, your £18 will be matched by the most exciting new bands and live talents, a host of top DJs, and the opportunity to flit between 4 different locations, each offering a unique combination of entertainment and refreshment. Less Camden crawl, more a sparkling stretch of Chalk Farm pavement transformed for the night by 1940s-style glamour, tailoring and heels, along which you won’t need to stagger more than a hundred yards all evening.
Starting from the Chalk farm tube, Bloody Awful Poetry invades The Enterprise and takes rule over the natives and locals with their unique blend of entertainment (if they do say so themselves). Wondrous live music, joyous djs, truly s*** poetry and utterly irresistible charm are the order of the evening. Expect something a little extra special this time though, as like lots of people they follow the Gregorian calendar. Live treats in The Enterprise include SixNationState, Diskoboy, Official Secrets Act, Orphans and Vandals and Blah Blah Blah (live).
Moving down the way, The Barfly will be rocking it up with raucous live performances from South London scenesters Hatcham Social, fresh off supporting The Charlatans and Harrow reprobates - The Natives, closely flanked by the mighty BOSH! and Sans Vinyl DJs playing a wild mix of indie, hip hop, electro and pop.
The third and newest member of the gang is The Monarch (formerly the Misty Moon) which sees its initiation this New Year’s. So in order to play marbles with the big boys, they've bought in the True Grit, to host a marathon live line up that starts with instant pop classics from The Standards, fresh from touring with Pigeon Detectives, Eight Legs, T4 darlings The Bad Robots, Industropop scenesters, Bolt Action Five and the rawest bleep laden shizzle since Peaches, in the form of Miss Odd Kid.
Finally, the famous tarted up boozer on Chalk Farm Road, The Lock Tavern, bringing with it a usual high calibre line up of energetic live bands and DJs, including Filthy Dukes (Kill Em All / Fabric), a DJ set from Friendly Fires’ Jack Thunder, Vice-signing The C90s, plus DJ action from Adventures In The Beetroot Field and Dan Hayes.
Dress code: 1940’s fancy dress.
